Yeah, the pictures in the link made me pretty angry, so I'm going to share them with you. Nothing quite like glorifying the link between soldiers, rape, and war, eh comrades?

Beyond that, I'm pretty happy. Classes are going well (except possibly for my philosophy quiz, but I'm sure I didn't do too badly), work is okay (although we are short staffed, desperately), and more excitingly Ben and I found a place! So yay! Moving October 1st! Near Metrotown! I am excited and happy and can't wait and just want to move and get it done so I can start decorating. Yay decorating!

I hope everyone else is similarly good.

Also, I think that everyone should go to Youtube.com and search for "Uncle Chuck" and watch the first video that comes up. I think you will enjoy it. ^__^

I'm not sure where the rape comes in, but the title is "make love, not war".

That said, I did have a couple of problems with this:

1) There's "too skinny for me", "too skinny for other women", and then there's these girls. They look like they're starving in Somalia for god's sake. I wouldn't want to fuck them, I'd be rushing to rip open an MRE for them. Fuck.

2) Welcome to hell. You're in the desert. It's 45 degrees in the shade. There's sand everywhere and in everything. And to top it off, here's your 2" heels.

3) The overabundance of "cool" tattoos doesn't make me think "soldier", it makes me think "poseur". And jiffy marker.

The rape for me comes in the one picture near the end (I can't look at the link at the moment, as I'm at school) where the model is lying in bed next to the solider and she looks terrified and kind of sad while he has that whole post-sex glow. It just completely jumped out at me as a visceral instinct and it made me feel kind of ill. Also, the whole women as sex toys for the soliders (in the one photo where they are filming the woman on top of the solider), and so on. The whole thing just envoked such an instant gut reaction with me that I had to post about it.

Also, nipples? Hello, it's freakin' desert! I wouldn't want my nipples hanging out in that kind of heat. Sheesh.

I have done moving, and we're mostly unpacked. I have Monday off (but that's going to be taken up by working on an English essay), but Wednesday would work for me if you guys wanted to come and hang out. Call me (if you want): my new number is 778-737-7935.
